Tom was born, raised and educated in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He met his wife Lisa, who is now an elementary school teacher, at university. They were married in November 1988, the same year he signed an advisor’s contract with North American Life and a voluntary membership application with Advocis - The Financial Advisor’s Association of Canada.

Tom is a Certified Financial Planner professional with more than 27 years of experience. As a Chartered Life Underwriter and a Chartered Financial Consultant, he has the expertise to help people integrate insurance and investment strategies to realize a comfortable and secure retirement. While of benefit to anybody who wants to feel more confident about their financial decisions, his approach is of particular interest to future oriented, married or widowed homeowners between the ages of 50-70, who are currently dealing with a number of different people for life/health insurance, debt management and investments, but wish to coordinate and simplify their financial affairs.

With over a quarter century of entrepreneurial history, a Masters Business Administration (MBA) and over a decade of management experience at one of the largest financial institutions in North America, Tom is well equipped to help business owners and pension plan members alike make better financial decisions.

As part of a farming family, with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biology, Tom is also uniquely qualified to help farmers and their families deal with retirement and succession planning issues.

Tom is a past member of the Institute for Advanced Financial Education Board of Trustees where he Chaired the Standards Task Force and was an active member of the Education and Ethics Committees. He has served as a Moderator for the Life Underwriters Association Training Course, on his local Chartered Life Underwriters Institute Executive Committee, on his local Life Insurance Managers Association Executive Committee and on various non-industry boards.  Currently he is a Director on the Board of the Rosenort Credit Union and Vice-chairman of the Board for the Better Business Bureau servicing Manitoba and Northwest Ontario.

When he is not at work serving his clients or his industry, he and Lisa enjoy: seasons tickets to Jets & Bombers games; entertaining friends and family; performing with Legacy - The Bunkowsky Family Band; travelling to ski, scuba dive, and explore other cultures; and  the Russell family cottage on Lake of the Woods, Ontario.
